Sixty Al-Shabaab Militants Killed in SNA Operation

An operation that soldiers from Somali National Army (SNA) carried out on February 22 killed more than 60 Al-Shabaab militants.

According to military sources, a top Al-Shabaab commander was among those killed in Tuesday’s operations.

The operation took place at a time of heightened activities by the terror group in different parts of the East African nation.

SNA forces carried out the operation jointly with their colleagues from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Recently, AFRICOM’s General Stephen Townsend spent time visiting an airbase at Baled-dogle.

He also toured a Kismayo Forward Operating Base (FOB).

The operation heralds a fresh start in working relations between SNA and AFRICOM.
