SJS Commends Police for Releasing Radio Barawe Journalist

The Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) has commended the Somali Police Force (SPF) for releasing a radio journalist from detention.

On January 6, Osman Aweys Bahar was set free after being held in detention for the last four days.

SJS condemned the arbitrary arrest of the journalist, though.

Bahar spoke with officials from the SJS and assured them that he is free. The journalist also confirmed that he has returned to work.

While he was under detention, the government also took Radio Barawe off air.

However, now that the SPF has released him, Bahar confirmed that the radio station is back on air too.
