Somali National Army (SNA) Chief of Staff survived a suspected assassination attempt on February 28 in Mogadishu.
Sources revealed that the early Sunday morning explosion targeted General Abbas Amin Ali’s convoy.
The incident took place in Hodan District, Mogadishu.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that two of Gen. Ali’s security guards lost their lives in the morning blast.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is not yet clear whether Gen. Ali suffered extensive injuries or not. Local authorities are yet to comment on the issue too.
