Somali National Army (SNA) launched a pre-dawn operation that enabled them to destroy several Al-Shabaab bases in a Mudug forest.
Working closely with international partners, the military successfully undertook the operation in Jehjeha Forest in South Mudug.
The forest, which lies between Adaley and Aad villages, has hosted Al-Shabaab bases for a long time.
Al-Shabaab fighters had been gathering in the forest over the last few days.
Precision airstrikes allowed the military to attack the terrorists suddenly and effectively thus forcing them to flee to safer areas.
