MOGADISHU — The Somali National Army (SNA)’s Special Forces, specifically the 4th Unit, conducted a targeted military operation in the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation took place in the strategic location of Alanleey, where forces dismantled defensive structures and positions reportedly used by Al-Shabaab militants to plan assaults.
Targeting Regrouping Fighters
According to military sources, the mission was organized to target fighters who had fled following a recent defeat in the Jabad-Godane district. The SNA’s 4th Unit moved to prevent these groups from establishing a new base of operations in the area.
Security personnel conducted a comprehensive sweep of the location, demolishing temporary encampments and fortifications prepared by the retreating combatants.
Ongoing Operations
Military officials reported that government forces inflicted losses on the militants during the engagement, though specific casualty figures were not released.
Commanders on the ground confirmed that the operation is ongoing, with “mopping-up” actions currently underway to secure the perimeter. The military stated that the offensive is part of a wider initiative to stabilize the Middle Shabelle zone and neutralize threats to the civilian population.
