Somali National Army (SNA) forces arrested five members of the Al-Shabaab group in Jowhar on February 11.
Sources intimate that SNA forces carried out a military operation in the western parts of Jowhar City.
Jowhar is 91kms to the north of Mogadishu.
It has been under militia control for some time now; hence, the decision by the military to conduct an operation in the region to flush out the extremists.
On Thursday, the SNA forces successfully smoked them out.
The five members of the Al-Qaeda linked group are currently in the hands of the military awaiting presentation before a court martial to answer various charges.
