Somali National Army (SNA) forces killed 25 Al-Shabaab militants in an operation carried out near Wajid district.
In Tuesday’s operation, foreign fighters – including commanders – were among those killed by the government troops.
Abdirahman Yusuf Al-adala, the Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, confirmed details of the operation to the media.
He added that SNA troops recovered plenty of weapons from the militants in the operation.
Al-adala mentioned that the military acted quickly after receiving information that terrorists intended to launch an attack in the region.
“Our quick response prevented the attack from taking place while dealing the terrorists a decisive blow,” the Deputy Minister of Information added.
