The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with international partners, conducted a successful operation in the Dabdheer area of Galmudug State, resulting in the elimination of nine senior Al-Shabaab leaders on Thursday. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities in the region.
While specific details about the Dabdheer operation are limited, recent military actions in Galmudug have yielded significant successes against Al-Shabaab. For instance, in October 2024, SNA forces, supported by Galmudug State forces and local militias, killed 30 Al-Shabaab militants and injured dozens more in the Qeycad area of the southern Mudug region. Additionally, in January 2025, SNA forces, in collaboration with local clan militias, conducted a planned operation in the Amara district of the Mudug region, resulting in the deaths of seven Al-Shabaab militants, including key leaders responsible for the group’s activities in the area.
These operations underscore the SNA’s commitment to enhancing security in Galmudug State and across Somalia, with the support of international partners and local militias.
