Somali National Army (SNA) forces have liberated El Lahelay in Hiiran region.
SNA troops liberated the area, which has been under the control of the Al-Shabaab militants for a long time.
El Lahelay lies 20kms to the north of Halgan district in Hiiran.
Over the last few days, the government troops have been undertaking security operations in different parts of Hiiran.
Local leaders were present during the operations.
Reports from the leaders included ministers from the HirShabelle administration, federal legislators, and Governor Ali Jeyte Osman of the Hiiran region.
