SNA Forces Withdraw from Aboorey After 10 Days of Clashes with Al-Shabaab Terrorists

Reports indicate that Somali National Army (SNA) forces, along with local militias, have withdrawn from the Aboorey area in the Hiiraan region following nearly ten days of intense combat with Al-Shabaab militants. While official confirmation from federal or regional authorities remains pending, the Ministry of Defense previously acknowledged ongoing operations in Aboorey aimed at weakening Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities.

The Hiiraan region has been a focal point of military activity, with the SNA and allied forces conducting successful operations to reclaim territories from Al-Shabaab control. Notably, areas such as Burweyn and Shaw have been liberated, and efforts continue to clear landmines and secure these regions. These operations are part of a broader strategy to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s presence and restore stability in central Somalia.

Despite these efforts, Al-Shabaab maintains a presence in parts of Hiran, particularly in the western areas. The group’s resilience underscores the challenges faced by Somali forces in their ongoing campaign to eradicate extremist elements and ensure lasting peace in the region.
