Somali National Army (SNA) troops intercepted an explosives-laden vehicle in central Somalia.
Reports from Middle Shabelle show that government forces intercepted two vehicles packed with explosives on Thursday.
Members of the local clan militia were with the SNA troops during the incident.
The interception took place after the SNA carried out a counterterrorism operation together with the local clan militia in Ba’lad district.
Military sources said that Al-Shabaab militants had planned to launch an attack on areas full of the civilian population.
The sources added that they foiled the attack after destroying the two vehicles.
