Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers killed eight Al-Shabaab militants on Sunday, December 13 in the southern region of Bakol.
According to military sources, the eight militants were killed when they attempted to ambush SNA troops near Wajid town.
Isak Mohamed Ibrahim, the Commander of the 260th Unit Division of SNA, confirmed this turn of events to the media on Monday, December 14.
He said that the militants attempted to “inflict casualties on the government forces but were repulsed.”
Ibrahim reassured residents that the government forces would not stop its operations against the extremists in the region.
