Somali National Army (SNA) forces killed 30 Al-Shabaab militants in a security operation carried out on August 2.
SNA soldiers carried out the operation in Mahas District, Hiiraan.
They encountered members of the terrorist group during the operation. An intense fight then ensued.
The government troops successfully fought off the insurgents and killed 30 of the militants.
SNA commanders confirmed the incident to the state media on Tuesday.
In their media briefing, the SNA commanders stated that the shootout between the government troops and militants took place in Bukure village, Mahas.
