On Tuesday, Somali National Army (SNA) killed seven Al-Shabaab fighters during a military operation conducted in Hiran.
Mohamud Hassan Ibrahim, a Commander of the 22nd Unit Section 27 of the SNA confirmed news of the deaths and the operation to members of the press.
Ibrahim said that the military had planned the operation meticulously with the aim being to dismantle the activities of the Al-Qaeda linked group in the region.
The latest incident happened barely one day after four Al-Shabaab militants were killed by Jubbaland forces during a heavy gunfire in Dhobley town.
In recent times, SNA troops have conducted several operations against Al-Shabaab with the backing of AMISOM and AFRICOM forces.
