Somali National Army (SNA) forces launched a military operation targeting Al-Shabaab fighters in Jubaland.
Sources revealed that the military launched the operation on November 3.
According to the sources, the operation will take place in Jubaland’s Gedo region.
Specifically, the government troops focused majority of their attention around Garbaharey, which is Gedo’s capital.
Al-Shabaab fighters have repeatedly targeted military bases in the region with constant attacks.
Colonel Warfa Sheikh Aden, Commander of SNA’s 10th Brigade of the 43rd Division, confirmed details of the operation to the public on Wednesday.
Colonel Aden led the operation together with Colonel Osman Sheikh Abdi Qorax.
