Somali National Army (SNA) has started carrying out an intense security operation in Lower Shabelle.
Its operation will focus mostly on Afgooye and Shalalmadoone regions.
The aim of the operation is to ensure that residents of Afgooye enjoy improved safety on the roads.
SNA soldiers evacuated several bombs that Al-Shabaab had planted along the local roads. Al-Shabaab often employs this strategy when targeting government forces.
Captain Osman Musa Mohamed, the Commander of the 14th Battalion of Section 14, spoke to SONNA confirming that the operation was a huge success.
He also confirmed that SNA has made several efforts to flash out members of Al-Shabaab in two Lower Shabelle districts; namely, Janaale and Jammame for the last six weeks.
