SNA Repels Planned Attack by Al-Shabaab in the Southern Regions

General Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi of the 60th Division of Somali National Army (SNA) announced that government troops repulsed a planned Al-Shabaab attack in the Southern Regions of the Horn of Africa nation.

Al-Shabaab attacked the government-controlled areas of Bakol and Bay. Gen. Abdullahi added that SNA had prior information of the impending attack. Subsequently, SNA carried out an attack that foiled the plans of the extremist group.

Gen. Abdullahi announced that they had information showing that Al-Shabaab planned simultaneous attacks on several military bases in Hawal-Barbar, Walaga, and Buur-Eyl. All these villages are in Somali’s south.

In separate news, Al-Shabaab killed seven soldiers of Somali National Army in an IED attack. On Monday, the extremist group launched an attack on the outskirts of Janaale Town. They used mortars to launch multiple attacks on AU and SNA bases.
