Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers have killed five Al-Shabaab fighters during an operation that took place in Lower Juba.
SNA sources indicated that the soldiers killed the militants on Saturday, October 9.
Several other militants got injured in the sting operation.
Shillawe Abdullahi Abdirahman, Civil-Military Cooperation and Media Commander for the SNA’s Danad Forces, confirmed the news.
Moreover, he confirmed that the tally of casualties is likely to go up as the operation continues in the southern region.
According to Abdirahman, the operation is part of the efforts by SNA to weed Al-Shabaab fighters out of the area.
