Somali National Army (SNA) Special Forces have received a donation of weapons worth $9 million from the United States.
The Special Forces, commonly referred to as Danab, received the weapons on Sunday.
The US Embassy in Mogadishu announced that the donation is part of the efforts by the country to equip SNA forces effectively for the ongoing fight against terrorists in Somalia.
Some of the weapons Danab forces received include explosive ordinance disposal kits, heavy machine guns, and maintenance equipment.
Others were medical supplies as well as support and construction vehicles.
Specifically, the weapons are for Danab forces operating in Galmudug and HirShabelle where the fight against terrorists has been intense for the last few months.
