SNA Troops and Al-Shabaab in a Fresh Wave of Fighting in Southern Somalia

Fighting has broken out between Somali National Army (SNA) troops and Al-Shabaab militants in Southern Somalia.

The skirmish started when members of the Al-Qaeda linked group launched an attack at a military base watched over by SNA.

The military base is in Burdubo Town, Southern Gedo province.

Consequently, SNA retaliated by attacking Al-Shabaab militants, as the two sides used heavy and light fire weapons to try to annihilate each other.

Witnesses said they could hear the gunfight from areas close to the town.

According to government sources, SNA troops were successful at keeping Al-Shabaab extremists at bay.

Furthermore, reports indicate that government troops inflicted multiple casualties on the militia.
