Somali National Army (SNA) troops encountered Al-Shabaab militants during a security operation carried out in Lower Shabelle on Tuesday.
The March 1 operation led to the deaths of 10 Al-Shabaab extremists.
SNA forces carried out the operation in several villages in Lower Shabelle.
These villages included Raynerow, Farbulay, and Yontoy.
The government troops had been in the region in response to reports that the Al-Shabaab militia had invaded Lower Shabelle in recent times.
Many more militants suffered injuries during the skirmishes.
