SNA Troops Kill 7 Militants in Gedo

Somali National Army (SNA) troops killed seven suspected members of Al-Shabaab in Gedo region on December 25.

The government troops carried out the strike in a region that has been under the grip of fear and tension for several weeks now.

Gedo region is near Somalia’s border with Kenya.

Col. Aden Abdi, Commander of SNA’s Operations, confirmed the incident to the public on Friday.

During his briefing, Col. Abdi said that SNA launched the military offensive after receiving a tipoff regarding the presence of Al-Shabaab militants in the region.

He stated that the militants had been seen in Garbaharey.

“Seven terrorists died when our military carried out a military offensive in the region,” Col. Abdi mentioned.

Col. Abdi clarified that the military have not stopped or stepped back but are now focused on advancing towards the areas that remain under their control.
