Somali National Army (SNA) troops killed nine Al-Shabaab militants on August 15 in Bay region.
Sources from SNA indicate that the militants were killed during an operation that the military carried out in the region over the weekend.
Moreover, the soldiers also destroyed a base in Gofgadud Shabellow village.
SNA forces have increased their operations around the country as Somalia holds senatorial elections in different regional states.
In some cases, SNA carries the operations alone while in others it partners with international forces from African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) or United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
