The Somali National Army (SNA) has successfully removed 16 illegal roadblocks set up by armed militias between Beledweyne and Mataban in the Hiran region.
These roadblocks were being used to extort money from drivers by issuing fake receipts.
The Ma’awisley militias, originally armed to combat Al-Shabaab, had instead established these unlawful checkpoints, exploiting civilians.
This action by the SNA is part of broader efforts to restore law and order, ensuring the safety and free movement of people and goods in the region.
