Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) has taken over Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU) and Somalia Land Information Managament (SWALIM) programs.
SNBS takes these programs over from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Officials from the SNBS and FAO attended a function on September 20 held to sign an agreement signaling the transfer.
Some of the functions that FSNAU and SWALIM have performed include collection and analysis of national data.
Henceforth, SNBS would be responsible for collecting and analyzing such data.
Gamal M. Hassan, the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development attended the signing ceremony in Mogadishu.
He hailed all stakeholders for the landmark agreement.
The minister said that Somalia can look forward to a more efficient policymaking process now that it has taken ownership of these functions.
