Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) met with Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, to discuss enhancing cooperation between SoDMA and China, particularly in humanitarian and development projects.
They emphasized the need for increased aid and infrastructure support to address Somalia’s ongoing challenges, including droughts, floods, and the effects of conflict.
Amb. Yu reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Somalia, focusing on immediate relief and infrastructure projects to strengthen resilience against future disasters.
This meeting builds upon previous collaborations, such as the handover ceremony on September 12, 2024, where China provided emergency food aid to Somalia.
During that event, Moallim expressed appreciation for China’s assistance, highlighting its role in alleviating disaster impacts.
The continued engagement between SoDMA and the Chinese Embassy reflects a commitment to deepening the traditional friendship and strengthening bilateral cooperation in disaster prevention and reduction.
