Somali Ambassador to Sudan Presents Credentials, Confirms Strong Bilateral Relations

PORT SUDAN — H.E. Dr. Ahmed Jama Omar, Somalia’s officially appointed Ambassador to Sudan, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Muhidin Saalim, Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during a high-level accreditation ceremony in Port Sudan.

Enhancing Bilateral Collaboration

During the ceremony, the Ambassador delivered official greetings from the Somali executive leadership and firmly reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering dedication to enhancing robust bilateral ties. The diplomatic discussions heavily emphasized expanding cross-border collaboration across vital political, economic, educational, and cultural domains.

Both state parties highlighted the absolute significance of advancing common geopolitical objectives. This shared focus is designed to promote long-term regional stability, spur sustainable economic development, and enhance multilateral coordination—strategic themes that closely parallel Somalia’s recent diplomatic engagements at the 11th OACPS Summit, where Somali officials similarly advocated for robust international economic collaboration.

Solidifying Regional Presence

The Sudanese Foreign Minister formally welcomed Ambassador Omar and confirmed Khartoum’s complete, institutional support for his upcoming diplomatic mission, explicitly acknowledging the enduring, historic relations and shared interests between the two Horn of Africa nations.

This high-level meeting powerfully demonstrates Somalia’s ongoing, strategic commitment to strengthening its international diplomatic ties and systematically expanding its regional presence. By deploying senior envoys, Mogadishu is actively creating new opportunities for increased cooperation in mutually beneficial areas, echoing the proactive diplomatic posturing recently demonstrated when the Somali envoy to Egypt joined critical Arab League Council sessions to defend regional security, and when President Hassan Sheikh hosted the global diplomatic corps at Villa Somalia to outline the nation’s cooperative state-building roadmap.
