Somali Auditors in Turkey Training for Better Financial Oversight

MOGADISHU — Key federal institutions have launched simultaneous initiatives aimed at strengthening governance, financial oversight, and legal accountability in Somalia, marking a renewed push for institutional reform.

In a move to enhance public financial oversight, auditors from the Federal Government are currently participating in a week-long capacity-building initiative in Turkey. The program, hosted by the Turkish Court of Accounts, includes officials from Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General.

Deputy Auditor General Abdijamaal Ismail Mohamed highlighted that the training is designed to directly enhance audit investigations and help secure public funds. The bilateral effort focuses on improving audit quality and protecting state assets during the nation’s critical institutional rebuilding phase.

Attorney General Strategies for 2026

Simultaneously in Mogadishu, the Office of the Attorney General convened a high-level meeting to review the accomplishments of 2025 and ratify strategies for the upcoming year.

The two-day gathering was presided over by Attorney General Suleiman Mohamed Mahmoud and brought together directors from various sections of the prosecution service.

In his concluding address, the Attorney General acknowledged the progress made under previous initiatives but directed all departments to accelerate priority actions for 2026. The event underscores the Office’s commitment to enhancing institutional effectiveness and accountability within the national prosecution framework.
