The Somali Cabinet has approved the 2025 national budget of $1,342,476,311 during an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Finance presented the budget to the Council of Cabinet, which represents a 24.4% increase, or $263,160,528, over the 2024 budget of $1,079,315,783.
This budget focuses on boosting internal revenue to support key sectors, including security, social services, and infrastructure development, signaling a stronger emphasis on self-sufficiency and national growth.
The government’s plan aligns with its ongoing efforts to improve domestic fiscal capacity and reduce dependence on external funding sources.
