Somalia’s Council of Cabinet approved the Minimum Working Age Bill in its weekly meeting at Villa Somalia.
In the weekly session, which is held every Thursday, the ministers agreed to send the bill on minimum working age to parliament for further discussion.
Additionally, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s cabinet approved the Sexual Offenses Bill too.
The latter tackles crimes such as rape and immorality. It endeavors to protect Somalis from sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) as well.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, who chaired this week’s meeting, indicated that both bills would enhance human rights in the nation.
Under the first bill, the government seeks to adhere to international practices that limit the minimum working age at 15 years.
