MOGADISHU — The Somali National Army (SNA)’s elite Gorgor Commando Force has executed clearance operations in the rural areas north of Jabad-Godane in the Middle Shabelle region.
During the mission, government forces recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition reportedly abandoned by Al-Shabaab militants as they fled the advancing troops.
Ongoing Security Sweep
Commander of the SNA’s 171st Battalion, Abdullahi Mustafa Ali (known as “Timaha-Weyne”), confirmed that security operations are continuing in the area.
He reported that in addition to the seized armaments, troops discovered the bodies of militant fighters left behind during the group’s withdrawal into the bushlands. The operation is part of a broader effort to secure the region and dismantle insurgent networks operating in the countryside.
