Somali Commandos Target Militant Hideouts in War-Iise to Protect Local Civilians

MIDDLE SHABELLE — The Somali National Army (SNA), specifically spearheaded by the elite Gorgor Commando Brigade, successfully carried out a planned military operation in areas under the jurisdiction of War-Iise in the Middle Shabelle region.

Pursuing Terrorist Fugitives

According to military officials, this targeted operation is a critical component of the ongoing national efforts to permanently eradicate terrorist groups from rural territories. The mission specifically focused on neutralizing Kharijite [Al-Shabaab] fugitives who have been using the area as a hiding place.

The tactical success in War-Iise directly mirrors recent clearance operations launched by the Gorgor commandos to systematically dismantle militant networks across Middle Shabelle.

Protecting the Civilian Population

Captain Mohamed Omar Dufaan, Commander of the 195th Battalion of the 19th Brigade, briefed military media on the mission’s outcomes. He stated that the primary objective of the operation was to actively pursue the militants and severely weaken the operational capabilities of the Kharijite militias.

Captain Dufaan emphasized that these extremist groups have been actively harassing local civilians living in the region, making their neutralization a top priority for the armed forces committed to defending the public.
