China – A high-level Somali delegation has concluded a ten-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China, aimed at deepening bilateral ties and learning from China’s rapid development experience.
The visit was organized by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and included city tours, project site inspections, and strategic meetings with experts across sectors.
The Somali officials engaged with Chinese counterparts on governance, urban planning, infrastructure, and investment models.
The goal was to adapt relevant Chinese development strategies to Somalia’s unique context as it advances state-building and economic recovery efforts.
Somalia’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman, underscored the significance of the exchange.
“This visit offered Somali policymakers direct insight into practical solutions and strategic models that have transformed Chinese cities and institutions. It sets a foundation for actionable cooperation,” said Amb. Osman.
Chinese officials reaffirmed their support for Somalia’s development, noting their commitment to assist in infrastructure, governance capacity-building, and investment facilitation.
Both sides expressed readiness to deepen mutual understanding through sustained dialogue and technical exchange.
The visit marks another milestone in growing Somalia-China relations, signaling a shared vision for sustainable development and stronger South-South cooperation.
