A Somali government delegation arrived in Ankara, Turkey, on Monday for the first round of technical talks with Ethiopia.
The discussions aim to advance the implementation of the Ankara Declaration, a key agreement between the two nations.
Daud Aweis, the Somali Minister of Information, confirmed the focus of the talks, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Somalia and Ethiopia.
This development follows a recent high-level meeting between Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa, signaling a continued effort to strengthen bilateral relations and address shared regional challenges.
President Mohamud and PM Ahmed met in Addis Ababa this past weekend on the sidelines of the 38th African Union Summit.
The Ankara talks are expected to lay the groundwork for practical steps to implement the declaration, which likely addresses issues of mutual interest such as security, economic cooperation, and regional stability.
