A top Somali diplomat has been appointed the new spokesperson for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The announcement making Nuur Mohamed Sheekh the new IGAD spokesperson was made on March 9.
Sheekh steps into his new role with immediate effect.
He is expected to be the official spokesperson for Workneh Gebeyehu, the IGAD Secretary General.
Furthermore, Sheekh will also be responsible for providing details on the organization’s official position on several issues.
Gebeyehu said that Sheekh’s appointment is partly because of the organization’s belief in his capability.
