Somalia’s Special Envoy for Drought Response is in Switzerland to attend an International Organization for Migration (IOM) Council.
Special drought envoy Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame will attend the 113th IOM Council session.
He will join other participants from all corners of the world to discuss issues ranging from climate change to food security.
Furthermore, participants are scheduled to discuss the issue of people displaced by the ongoing drought and the subsequent humanitarian crisis that has emerged in the East African nation.
Warsame addressed the meeting’s opening session on Tuesday, November 29.
In his address, Warsame spoke about the impact of climate change on food security.
He appealed for support from Somalia’s international partners to enable communities to adapt to the emerging climate shocks and the fallout therein.
