Ankara, Turkey – The Education Attaché at the Somali Embassy in Ankara, Ms. Asha Mohamed Mahmoud, on Sunday attended the graduation ceremony of Ostim Technical University, where she joined families, faculty, and dignitaries in celebrating the academic achievements of thousands of graduates — including 78 Somali students.
Addressing the event, Ms. Asha congratulated the Somali graduates on their accomplishment, highlighting it as a significant milestone not only in their academic journey but also in the broader efforts to strengthen Somalia’s human capital. She encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to the development of Somalia.
“You have made your families and your country proud. Somalia needs educated youth like you to lead the way in rebuilding our nation and representing it with honor on the international stage,” said the attaché.
Ostim Technical University, known for its focus on innovation and industry partnerships, has become a popular destination for Somali students pursuing higher education in Turkey under various scholarship and bilateral education programs.
The graduation ceremony was marked by emotional scenes, cultural displays, and a sense of optimism for the future. The Somali graduates — many in fields such as engineering, economics, international relations, and technology — expressed gratitude to both the Turkish government and the Somali Embassy for their continuous support.
Ms. Asha reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to ensuring that Somali students in Turkey receive the support they need to succeed. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining strong educational ties between the two nations, describing education as a key pillar in the long-standing relationship between Somalia and Turkey.
