Somali Football Federation Elections Suspended Indefinitely

Somali Football Federation (SFF) will not hold elections on Wednesday, as earlier scheduled.

This follows the decision by the federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to suspend the elections, which were to take place on December 28.

The ministry suspended the elections on Tuesday.

Abdirahman Warsame Diriye, the youth and sports minister, announced the suspension that has now left the federation in limbo.

Football Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) does not take kindly to any form of government interference in the management of football.

In the recent past, Diriye has come under examination after serious accusations were levied against him.

He has been accused of demanding bribes from football stakeholders.

Furthermore, some sources indicate that Abdigani Said Arab, a former SFF President and ex-Confederation of African Football (CAF) ExCo member, is behind the latest setback.

Arab stands accused of eyeing a comeback while running strings behind the scene.
