Somali Forces End the 30-Hour Deadly Siege at a Mogadishu Hotel

Somali security forces have ended the deadly siege at a Mogadishu hotel that lasted close to 30 hours.

Thus far, authorities reported 20 deaths from the siege by Al-Shabaab terrorists.

Some sections of the local media claim that the deaths could be higher than what the government has so far reported.

According to sources, the terrorists used explosives to force their way into Hayat Hotel on Friday, August 19.

They took control of the hotel and held guests hostage through the night and into Saturday.

An unnamed government official confirmed that all the terrorists are dead.

No more gunshots were heard from the hotel’s top floor where the terrorists had barricaded themselves until Saturday night when the siege ended.

Most of those killed in the shocking incident are civilians.
