In a series of coordinated strikes, the Somali National Army and its international partners have dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab by neutralizing 40 militants and destroying critical explosives infrastructure across the Middle Juba and Bay regions.
In the Saakow District of the Middle Juba Region, a pre-planned air strike involving the United States targeted and fully demolished Al-Shabaab’s largest explosives manufacturing plant. This operation resulted in the deaths of 18 militants, including specialized bomb-makers who were actively preparing devices to target Somali civilians.
Simultaneously, the Danab Special Forces executed a targeted overnight operation in the Buur Eyle area of the Buur Hakaba District. After monitoring a specific terrorist cell, the elite forces intercepted the group as they prepared imminent suicide attacks and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices. This mission resulted in 22 terrorists killed and the total elimination of all explosive materials and vehicles intended for the assault.
Following these successful missions, the Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command commended the valor and professionalism of the armed forces. They emphasized that these operations are part of an intensified campaign to neutralize the Al-Shabaab threat and will continue until enduring peace and stability are established throughout the nation.
