Somali forces have launched an operation to capture Geerille village from the control of Al-Shabaab militants.
A report by journalists working for state media shows that Somali National Army (SNA) is in the region to liberate the village.
The village is between Oswein and El Dheer.
Oswein remains the primary target of the operation.
According to military sources, Al-Shabaab used Oswein as the location from which they launched the recent attack in Masagaway.
The Masagaway attack was on May 30.
Three other nearby towns that remain in Al-Shabaab’s grip are also targets of the operation. These are Wabho, Gal Hareeri, and El Buur.
