Somali Founder of World Remit Secures Funding Worth $800 Million

Ismail Ahmed, the Somali who founded World Remit, has won funding worth $800 million.

He attracted earth-shattering funding from several investors for his business, Zepz, a new platform that provides digital money transfer services.

Some of the investors include Leapfrog, TC, and Accel.

Currently, Zepz operates World Remit and Sendwave. The two firms have become market leaders with more than 11 million users found in over 150 countries.

Initially, Ahmed created World Remit to help immigrants send money back home to their loved ones.

He designed it while in London.
