Somali Government Condemns Terror Attack on an ATMIS Base in HirShabelle

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has condemned a terror attack on an African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) base in HirShabelle.

The attack took place on Tuesday, May 3.

The Somali government wrote a statement condemning the attack.

Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked the ATMIS base, which mostly houses soldiers from the Burundian contingent.

Specifically, the terrorists carried out the attack in El-Baraf town.

Several ATMIS soldiers from Burundi lost their lives in the attack while many others are in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.

FGS condemned the attack in a press release dated May 3.

In the statement, FGS extended its deepest condolences to the victims of the attack and their respective families.

It also commiserated with the African Union as well as the government and people of Burundi.
