The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has issued a notice on controlled substances.
FGS issued the warning through the Ministry of Health and Human Services on Monday.
In the notice, the government listed the steps it intends to take to address the issue of increasing addiction and misuse of prescription drugs.
Further, the health ministry plans to license doctors to prescribe drugs.
Somalis would also know the companies that the government licenses to import drugs into the country.
The government has asked each hospital to submit the names of two pharmacists and pharmacy technicians for licensing.
