Somali Government Speaks on Trucks Captured Transporting Weapons and Ammunition in Galgadud

The Somali government has released a statement regarding an incident involving two trucks transporting a large quantity of weapons and ammunition in the Galgadud region.

According to the statement, security forces successfully intercepted the shipment, which had been illegally smuggled from Ethiopia by businessmen.

However, armed militia launched an attack on the security forces during the interception, resulting in some of the weapons falling into the hands of the militia.

Earlier reports indicated that local militia captured the weapons in Abudwak, central Somalia.

Apparently, the weapons and ammunition were being transported in government trucks when they were captured by the local militia.

The seizure of the trucks raises questions about the ability of the government to provide the security and stability required in central Somalia, which has been a hive of violent terrorist clashes for a long time.
