Somali Institutions to Sign Major Contracts Only after Formation of New Government

Somali institutions will have to wait for the formation of a new government to sign major contracts.

The Auditor-General warned the institutions against signing any major contracts with local or foreign investors.

Auditor-General Mohamed Ali Afhoye issued this warning on Tuesday, July 19.

Afhoye said that the Office of the Auditor-General had already reversed contracts worth millions of US Dollars.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is expected to form a new government within the next few weeks.

Auditor-General urged heads of all government institutions and departments to wait for Prime Minister Barre to form the new administration before signing any major contract.
