A leading journalists organisation in Somalia has called for the withdrawal of the Official Information Bill (OIB) from federal parliament.
The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) appealed to the federal parliament to withdraw the bill with immediate effect.
In its view, the bill could restrict press freedom and undermine transparency by limiting journalists’ access to public information.
They are advocating for a more inclusive and transparent legislative process that considers the concerns of media professionals.
