Journalists working in Somalia have been urged to act professionally in the upcoming elections in the country.
The Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) urged Somali journalists to act in a professional manner while reporting news on elections.
FESOJ issued this call in relation to interviews, stories, and all manner of elections coverage.
Furthermore, the journalists’ federation issued a call for enhanced professionalism among those hired to moderate debates.
FESOJ issued a statement on December 14, 2020 asking Somali journalists to stop being used as voices for promoting hate speech.
The organization encouraged members of the Fourth Estate not to incite the public or promote violence in such a brotherly society.
