Somali leaders have been among the first to congratulate Dr. William Ruto for winning Kenya’s presidential elections.
Dr. William Ruto was declared the winner of Kenya’s hotly contested elections on August 15.
Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud offered his sincere congratulations to President-Elect Ruto and wished him well as he begins his tenure.
He expressed hope that the two of them will work closely together to advance the partnership between Somalia and Kenya.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre was among the first leaders from Somalia to convey his congratulations to Ruto, who becomes Kenya’s fifth President.
In his message, Prime Minister Barre reminded President-Elect Ruto of the close bonds that exist between Kenya and Somalia.
“I look forward to working with you closely on many fronts,” the Prime Minister added.
Ex-President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo also extended his congratulatory message to Ruto.
In his message, Farmaajo commended Ruto for running “an enriching, overpowering campaign” that led to his victory.
