Somali Legislators to Debate Motion Prohibiting Smuggling of Illegal Arms

A motion against the smuggling of illegal arms into Somalia and inter-clan conflicts, signed by 18 MPs, has been submitted to the Speaker of the House of the People of Somalia’s Federal Parliament.

Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe received the motion from the legislators on Saturday in parliament.

Legislators will debate the motion, which was approved on Friday night by the Council of Ministers during an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

This motion highlights the lawmakers’ concerns over the destabilizing effects of illegal arms trade and inter-clan violence.

It also calls for urgent measures to address these issues and promote peace and stability in the country.
